At the same time we have also worked to try to improve more and more and to expand the range of products offered. Now that, finally, we can see the end of this difficult period, we are confident in the recovery of the market and ready to offer to customers vanguard products and solutions.
Looking in particular at the world of photovoltaic systems, we believe that, also thanks to government incentives, the sector will have a significant expansion in the coming years, especially as regards the installation of small systems for private users.
Certainly the heart and mind of every photovoltaic system, small or large, are made up of photovoltaic panels and inverter but, as we all know, the heart and mind could not operate without a perfectly functioning circulatory system and without a immune system able to prevent or repair any problems.
In fact, a fundamental parameter of any photovoltaic system is the efficiency of the system itself. This parameter not only depends on the power generation capacity of the panels and the conversion efficiency of the inverter, but is also linked to all those components that operate between the panels and the inverter, and between the inverter and the electrical distribution.
The Italweber company, which has been operating in the electrical protection sector since 1960, and has been manufacturing specific electrical components and panels for photovoltaic systems for over 12 years, is now recognized as a leader in electrical components for the management and protection of both the direct current (DC) side, and the alternating current (AC) side of photovoltaic systems, i.e. where the true vital system of the plant develops, which carries energy from the heart (panels) to the brain (inverter) and subsequently in the network.
In addition to the numerous types of standard string boxes present in the catalog for many years, we soon realized that the numerous and different types of systems and the different needs of customers required the design of customized string boxes, suitable for every single need. We therefore decided, starting in 2010, to dedicate resources and people precisely to provide each customer with specific answers and solutions, able to fully respond to every particular need. This is the reason why, in recent years, we have created over 700 different versions of panels for the DC side and the AC side of photovoltaic systems.
The string boxes built in the last decade have been largely used for the protection and sectioning of medium and large size systems, but the recent and current market trend, increasingly concentrated on small size systems, has suggested us to create and insert in the catalog panels made with simple wall-mounted cabinets, but complete with all the necessary protections.
Apart from the various customizations, each panel for the protection of the strings of photovoltaic systems usually includes the realization of the parallel of the strings by means of special busbars or standard copper bars, the necessary protection against overcurrents of each individual string with fuses having time-current characteristics gPV (compliant with standard IEC 60269-6), overvoltage protection with class II surger arresters and the possibility of disconnecting the strings from the rest of the system with a DC-21 category switch disconnector under load. String boxes are also available in which the disconnector is combined with a shunt trip release, with shunt current or minimum voltage, to give the Fire Fighters the possibility to intervene on all those systems that fall under their supervision with the maximum possible safety.
For the alternating current part of the system, in addition to providing all the necessary components, namely circuit breakers, RCDs, RCDs, surge arresters, contactors, CEI 0-21 interface control units, etc. we usually provide our customers with ready-made, cabled, certified and complete panels with everything necessary. In fact, we manufacture both simple inverter protection panels and more complex panels, also equipped with a network interface approved according to the most recent edition of the CEI 0-21 (Low Voltage) or the CEI 0-16 (Medium Voltage) standards. Even for the AC side switchboards, despite having a series of standard string boxes in the catalog, it is always possible to design and build switchboards that meet the customer’s wiring diagrams.
In order to simplify the life of the installers and to reduce connection and management costs, we also manufacture AC / DC string boxes which include, in a single panel, all the components necessary on the DC side for the parallel, protection and sectioning of the strings and also all the protection and management components of the AC side, operating downstream of the inverter. Of course, the two sections of the switchboard are segregated and distinct from each other.
We provide our customers with all the pre-sales assistance necessary to identify the most suitable panels for their systems and the necessary after-sales assistance. All the panels are designed according to the latest editions of the reference standards (CEI 82-25, CEI EN 61439) and contain the relative technical data sheet, the wiring diagram and the certification of conformity inside the package, in order to provide to the installer and the final customer the total guarantee of the safety and reliability of the product that will be used over time.
